KLP thronged to foil airlifting of accused duo

Moreh, February 02 2024: Moreh residents including Moreh Women Union members gathered at Key Location Point (KLP) of Assam Rifles near Moreh town from 11.30 am Friday to discuss about the arrest of Philip K Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate and course of action to be taken up if attempts were made to airlift them to Imphal by government authorities.

Both Philip K Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate were arrested in connection with the killing of Moreh SDPO Anand Kumar.

As words spread in the border town that a helicopter would be flown from Imphal to airlift Philip K Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate from Moreh, members of Moreh Women Union were seen mobilising people to gather at KLP so as to thwart any plan to airlift the arrested duo.

However, people retreated from the area at about 2.30pm after learning that authorities has no such plan or dropped the plan to airlift Philip K Khongsai and Hemkholal Mate from Moreh to Imphal though womenfolks stayed back at KLP.
