Imphal, February 02 2024:
Flagging concern over widespread circulation of videos and photos of Meitei village volunteers, the Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee (KIKJCC) has appealed to all Meiteis especially vloggers and social media influencers to stop at once uploading all activities being taken up by village volunteers to defend Meitei villages on Facebook, Youtube and other social media platforms.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club, KIKJCC convenor L Memma said that uploading details of the village volunteers and their locations on social media is unwise and benefits the Kukis.
Saying that communication has become much faster and more accessible in the modern age and there are many apps which can send messages instantly, Memma said that disclosing the details of Meitei village volunteers and the places where they stand guard on social media is risky.
Memma asked the Meitei people to not respond to the photos and videos uploaded by the Kuki-Zo people to provoke the Meiteis.
She further said "we shouldn't reveal whatever measures we have taken up to safeguard Manipur on social media" as Kukis can gain valuable information from it to attack the Meiteis.
There must be unity among the people to defeat the aggressors and secure the future of Meiteis, Memma said.
Expressing dissatisfaction over how the Centre and the State Government have been dealing with the violent conflict in Manipur, Memma accused both the Governments of ignoring Manipur during the time of crisis.
At least the Ministers and MLAs should come out from the comfort of their quarters, hear the grievances of the people and mount pressure on the Centre to restore normalcy, she said and asked if there is not even one MLA from the BJP who can leave the party for the sake of the people.
KIKJCC co-convenor Huirem Binodini, on the other hand, said that the violence in Manipur instigated by Kuki narco-terrorists will complete one year in a couple of months but the Government of India hasn't done anything concrete so far to end the conflict.
It seems like the Government of India still doesn't take Manipuris as the people of the country, she rued while urging the Prime Minister to drive out Kuki narco-terrorists from Manipur at the earliest.
