Imphal, February 02 2024:
On the invitation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren left Imphal for New Delhi today.
N Biren left for New Delhi in an Indigo flight at 2.30 pm.
Amit Shah called N Biren over phone yesterday and invited the Chief Minister to come to Delhi today.
The Union Home Minister also discussed important points with N Biren over telephone, informed a well placed source.
Incidentally, High Court of Manipur Chief Justice Shiddarth Mridul and Advocate General Naorem Kumarjit were also aboard the same flight in which the Chief Minister was travelling to New Delhi.
However, it does not look like the trip of Chief Justice Shiddarth Mridul and Advocate General Naorem Kumarjit has any connection with the Chief Minister's visit to New Delhi, said the source.
On the other hand, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister Thongam Biswajit, while speaking at World Wetlands Day observation held at Lamphelpat under the aegis of the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, stated, "Today's World Wetlands Day observation would have been more complete if the Chief Minister was present but the honourable Chief Minister could not attend the observation as he has left for New Delhi to discuss some very important matters with Central leaders" .
It is not yet clear how long the Chief Minister will be in Delhi.
