Assam Rifles foils smuggling bid, distributes sports items

Imphal, February 02 2024:
Assam Rifles intercepted a total of 13 trucks involved in transportation of areca nut without necessary valid documentation in general area of Kangpat Centre in Kamjong district during an operation conducted on Friday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the search operation resulted in seizure of 1337 bags of areca/betel nuts, weighing approximately 113.52 tonnes and valued at Rs 13.6224 crore.
The confiscated goods have been handed over to the Forest Beat Officer of Kamjong district, the PRO added.
On the other hand, under its Civic Action Programme for the fiscal year 2023-24, Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) provided essential commodities to the children of Hnatham Orphanage in Chandel district on Thursday.
Similarly, the AR also distributed sports items to Kok-ilbon Football Club, Moirang for the on-going Under-12 football coaching camp in Kokilbon village to promote Khelo India Games at Sendra in Bishnupur district on Friday, the PRO conveyed.
