Ranji Trophy Elite Group A : Ng Johnson slams fifty before Jharkhand bundle out Manipur for 170 in first innings

Jharkhand are trailing behind by 74 runs at stumps on Day 1 after bowling out Manipur for the first innings total of 170 runs in a Ranji Trophy Group A tie at Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur.
Manipur had a stuttering start after winning the toss and opting to bat first.
They slipped to 14/2 with Shahbaz Nadeem setting up Al Bashid catch on duck in the first over and bowled out Bashir Rahman on 6 in the fifth delivery of the third over.
The slump continued with Longjam Ronald getting run out on 13 in the 10th over and skipper Langlonyamba Meitankeishangbam got bowled out on 4 by Shahbaz for the fourth wicket in the 17th over.
From 38/4 in 16.2 overs, Priyojit Kangabam and Ngariyanbam Johnson produced a slow but commendable 82-run fifth wicket partnership to take Manipur to 120 before Vikas Kumar got rid of Johnson on 121-ball 62 to break the partnership in the 46th over.
Vikash Kumar then caught and bowled Priyojit on 36 in the 50th over to complete his two wicket haul (2/25) and reduced Manipur to 131 for 6.Shahbaz then found his fourth scalp in the form of Pukhrambam Prafullomani 9 before Anukul Roy trapped Kishan Singha lbw on 22 and set up Thokchom Kishan catch to restrict Manipur in the 62nd over to make it 169/9 and returned with the bowling figures of 2/27 in 16 overs.
Shahbaz then ended Manipur innings by bowling out Bishworjit on 3-ball duck for the tenth wicket in 63rd over and returned with the best bowling figures of 5/52 in 23.4 overs that include 7 maidens.
Md Sultan Karim was unbeaten on 13 in 29 balls.
Continuing the day, Jharkhand were on 96/1 (in 27 overs) at stumps courtesy of Utkarsh Singh's unbeaten 50 off 81 balls, V Vishal's unbeaten 12 and Aryaman Sen (30) who was bowled out by Kishan Singha in the 22nd over.
