Bodies of Michaeldev, Khaba laid to rest

The bodies of Nongthombam Michaeldev and Meisnam Khaba, who were killed in an attack by Kuki militants atop the hillocks near Kadangband Part 2 Under Imphal West district on January 30, have been laid to rest at Kadangband Mahadev Hill, on Friday.
Michaeldev and Khaba were guarding the Meetei villages when heavily armed Kuki militants attack the village volunteers manning bunkers in and around Kadangband Part 2 on January 30 afternoon.
Their bodies kept at RIMS mortuary for the post mortem examination were claimed by their respective families, Friday.
The mortal remains were then taken to Kadangband Mahadev hill for the burial after conduct of their last rites.
The body of Michaeldev was taken from RIMS mortuary to his house at Palace Compound by large number of people including family members, relatives and friends in the form of a procession which passed through Thangmeiband, Assembly road, Lamlong Keithel, Porompat, Konung Mamang and Wangkhei.
The mortal remains of Khaba was also taken from RIMS mortuary in a procession covering Uripok Kangchup Road and Sagolband till his native place at Sagoltongba where people offered floral tributes as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Later, the mortal remains of both the village volunteers were taken to Kadangband Mahadeva Hill where people paid floral tributes and finally laid them to rest.
It may be mentioned that on December 30 last, Ningombam James was killed by Kuki militants in an attack at Kadangband Part 2 around 3 pm .
A month later, the Kuki militants again attacked Kadangband part 2 and killed village volunteers Michaeldev and Khaba.
All the three victims have been laid to rest at the same place at Kadangband Mahadeva hill.
