Imphal, July 26 2023:
Reacting to the reportedly decision taken by the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF), which is an organisation pursuing the demand for separate administration for the Kuki, to bury bodies of 100 Kuki Zomi victims of the ethnic clash at Houlaikhupi village falling under Bishnupur district, All Manipur Meitei Defence Committee of India and New Checkon Bazar Area Women's Welfare Society (Meira Paibi) strongly denounced the decision to inhume the corpses in any area that fall under the valley district.
In separate releases, the organisations affirmed not to allow the Kuki-Zomi victims' bodies in Bishnupur district.
If the ITLF goes ahead with burial of the bodies then the government should process for delisting Ngeirong and Mantak villages from Saikot AC and including them in one of the valley assembly segments, they demanded.
The organisations also questioned as why the government forces could not take action against the Kuki militants or mob involved in torching houses of Meitei in Moreh.
