Young lad injured in attack at Phougakchao

Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai has undoubtedly become a happy hunting ground of Kuki militants' aggression as the village has been attacked by sophisticated weapons wielding militants yet again.
An intense gunbattle took place between local volunteers and Kuki militants from last night till this early morning.
In the heavy exchange of fire, a young lad who was at home sustained grievous injuries as he was hit by the splinter of a bomb fired by Kuki militants.
According to reports culled from the spot, the Kuki militants started launching gun and bomb attacks towards Phougak-chao Ikhai Awang Leikai from around 7.30 last night from a bunker set up about 200 metres away from the village.

One of the bombs fired by Kuki militants went off inside the house of a particular family at around 11.30 pm and grievously injured 16 year old Longjam Naocha who cleared the HSLC examination recently.
Speaking to the media, uncle of the injured Longjam Ingocha said that the brother of Naocha could have also been injured had there not been a wall in between.
He said the injured has been admitted to Raj Medicity and is in serious condition.
This correspondent also saw one unexploded bomb fired by Kuki militants lying flat on the tin roof of Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai Community Hall and another unexploded two inch mortar bomb near the community hall.
It is reported that Kuki militants launched another attack at the same village by firing several rounds today at around 4 pm again.
There is no report of any casualty during the fresh attack.
