Shootout between Kuki militants and village volunteers of Khoijumantabi under Kumbi assembly constituency continues till Tuesday after three village volunteers were killed in an ambush and one Kuki was slain in retaliation on June 2 .
Through sustained aggression, Kuki militants, on Tuesday, captured and occupied several bunkers set up by local villagers to defend their village.
According a local villager, firing from Kuki militants continued since midnight and occupied several bunkers set up by villagers of Khoijumantabi and Chairel Mangjil.
Raising serious concern over the recent development and continued aggression from the Kuki militants, the villager appealed to the government to deploy additional security forces in the area to protect the villages.
Meanwhile, large number of Kuki militants entered Torbung Awang Leikai on Monday night with indiscriminate firing and burned one house around 11 o'clock.
From there, they proceeded towards Torbung Ward No 5 near Panthoibi temple and burned five .
On the other hand, state forces shot down a drone fitted with high resolution camera with thermal payload near Luwangsangol in Sekmai area on Monday.
IRB personnel deployed in the area brought down the drone, which is suspected to be controlled by Kuki militants, as it flew above the security deployment area.
A thermal drone camera utilises infrared technology to capture and analyse heat signatures emitted by objects or individuals.
Its infrared imaging technology enables the detection of hidden targets, even in low-light or obscured environments, allowing for effective surveillance and target acquisition.
