Imphal, July 04 2023:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has appealed to the people to refrain from storming police outposts and IRB posts as such acts may "derail" the public movement.
People should not storm the State security posts and refrain from snatching weapons.
Such incidents may cause internal rifts and derail the public movement against the narco-terrorists and threats to State's integrity, said COCOMI in a statement.
It said people are well aware of the history of Manipur and they should learn from it.
Seven Years Devastation 1819-1826 AD, Mariya Phambalcha 3212-3218 and 1891 Anglo-Manipur War offer valuable lessons that tell people to unite.
Manipur lost the wars because the leaders and the people were divided at the time.
At this present crucial juncture also, there seems to be divide among the leaders and the people with numerous groups emerging and leading their own movement based on their own agenda, said COCOMI stressing the importance of uniting against the common foe.
The present crisis is complex and people need to truly understand what they are facing.
If people fail to understand the threats facing them, it will be hard to face the narco-terrorists and the drug syndicates who have established roots in the State, said COCOMI.
The issue is further complicated by the attitude of the India Government, which to the people, seems to side with the Kuki militants, it said.
It claimed that the Central forces, under India's foreign policy, security and defence policy, have remained mute spectators when Kuki militants torch houses, attack and kill civilians.
