Imphal, July 04 2023:
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCs) has asked all the 50 MLAs to stick together and work for a common cause for the sake of Manipur.
FOCs, in association with Minuthong Hatta Golapati Athletic Union (MHGAU), organised a one day discussion on "Present Scenario in Manipur" at Hatta today.
During the function, the gatherings resolved to urge the Government to withdraw the Army from Manipur and replace them with State police and to work on peace at their level best without waiting for a nod from the Centre all the time.
The Pangals who attended the function also took a unanimous decision to take part in the peace initiative with the help of Meetei Pangal CSOs and FOCs.
Speaking at the event, FOCs president Th Manihar said that MLAs forming groups will not bring any solution.
Stating that unity of the 50 MLAs is indispensable to pave the way forward and end the conflict, he added that people don't want to see MLAs forming groups at this critical juncture.
Manihar also urged the Government to take a concrete decision to save Manipur even if an Assembly session cannot be convened for the time being.
Claiming that Central security forces who are deployed in the State are useless and as such they need to be sent back to their respective units, Manihar asked what the Central security forces have done to douse the flame in Manipur.
War would already be declared if the issue of Manipur had taken place in Jammu and Kashmir or other States, he added.
Further appealing to all to refrain from politicising the issue as it would only escalate the tension, Manihar said that it would be better if no political parties come to Manipur.
