CoTU pays tribute to tribal 'martyrs'

The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) Sadar Hills organised a Candle light Vigil' on Monday evening in collaboration with the Kuki Students' Organization-general headquarters to mark the two-month long violence and also to pay their highest tribute to tribal martyrs.
The candlelight vigil was held at Kangpokpi Town, Keithelmanbi Military Colony, Bongmol, Leikop, Sa parmeina and Saikul from 7pm till 10pm.At Kangpokpi town, hundreds of.
people gathered at Brig M Thomas ground to pay their respect to the departed souls by lighting candles followed by traditional gun-salute by Kangpokpi Youth Union.
A minute s silence was also observed by the people to pay their respect and honour to the fallen tribal Kuki heroes while a prayer for the martyrs' families was also held.
Similarly, people in Keithelmanbi, Bongmol, Leikop in Tujang area, Saparmeina and Saikul held candlelight vigil along National Highway-2.In each of the mass candlelight vigil events, tribal martyrs were given traditional gun salute.
The CoTU also imposed total shutdown from 1pm till midnight on July 3 t mark the two-month lon_ violence and as a tribute to Kuki-Zo martyrs.
Meanwhile, the CoTU condemned attack on Phaileng and Thingsat Kuki villages by heavily armed miscreants suspected to be Meetei on July 3 morning.
