Imphal, July 04 2023:
Lamenting the ineffectiveness of handling the crisis situation in the State, the Global Manipur Federation (GMF) has asked when will the Government act if not today in a open letter address to the Chief Minister.
In its letter, GFM said Meiteis living outside India have come together under the name "Global Manipur Federation" representing Asia, Australia, Middle East, America, Africa and Europe as they cannot stand the ugly incidents and rambling injustice happening on the soil of Manipur.
The federation also shared its empathies with the fellow Manipuris undergoing profound pains on the ground for two months.
During such prolonged agonized days, New Delhi has failed to act promptly and respond fairly.
Many more lives continue to be lost, properties are destroyed and thousands including women, children and elderly are living like refugees in their own home land, GMF noted.
The overall situation has collapsed with educational institutions closed, daily work and business disrupted, transportation halted and paddy farming challenged but the CM and Legislators have not done what they should have for long, GMF said.
Expressing concern over absence of affirmative action to end the crisis and restore normalcy, GMF asked how long will the 'people's Chief Minister', the ruling Ministers and present MLA continue to allow the nightmare haunts Manipur and and how long will the State Government continue to remain dumb but witnesses a paralyzed state.
GMF also urged the CM and all the Legislator to commit to confidence building measures which include disarming Chin-Kuki militants under SoO pact and sanitize the arms and ammunition in an around foothills; rearranging deployment of Central armed forces, immediate withdrawal of RAF and Assam Rifles, making National Highways safe and giving farmers of the valley a sense of security to avoid famine.
Reminding the CM and other Legislators that it is people who kept them in power, GMF also urged them to demonstrate their actions when there is still time.
