AMUCO president Nando Luwang has stressed on the importance of teaching aggressors a befitting lesson for their actions.
He was speaking at a convention held today at Kyamgei Mayai Leikai community hall under the aegis of Singjamei to Lilong Meira Paibi Apunba lup in view of the prevailing situation.
Nando said what can be gauged from these two months of turmoil in the State is clear violation of SoO ground rules by the Kuki militants.
The situation will never be settled unless these people who armed themselves with surplus gained from poppy plantation and rise in revolt to carve out a separate administration are rooted out, he said.
Since the crisis they ignited has gone beyond control, it is high time befitting actions are taken against militants under SoO pact and illegal immigrants, he added.
Saying that destroying a bunker is not a big thing, Nando mocked the motives of those who considered fighting a war using a bunker in this era.
He also stressed on the importance of destroying designated camps of militants under SoO besides destroying illegal bunkers.
If the Central and the State Governments really want to end the crisis, they should take actions on militants under SoO pact, he said.
While welcoming the Government's move to provide security to farmers in the peripheral areas, Nando urged the State Government to ensure the same throughout the year as it will be futile if the Government withdraws security when the crops are ripen and ready for harvest.
