Imphal, July 04 2023:
A one-day discussion on 'present scenario in Ma nipur' jointly organised by Minuthong Hatta Golapati Athletic Union (MHGAU) and Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) held at Hatta Mana Ingkhol resolved to boycott political parties which try to draw political mileage taking undue advantage of the restive situation in the state.
The meet also observed that it is no longer the time to wait for Central government's advice to resolve the situation in but for the state government to take proactive role in ending the turmoil.
Alone with resolving to demand withdrawal central security forces from the state and replace them with state forces and convene state assembly session to discuss the issue, the meet decided that people of Meitei Pangal community and their organisations join hands with FOCS in all activities.
FOCS president Th Mani-har said that the Kuki mili tants have been resorting to violence with the stated objective to occupy and claim 71 per cent of the state's total geographical area whereas the Meeteis are fiercely opposed to aggressive and nefarious agenda.
While stating that the meet was organised to solicit support of the Meitei Pangal community, who shares close blood relationship with the Meeteis, to support the fight, he also opined that if the timing is not appropriate for holding special assembly session, the chief minister can convene a meeting of ministers and MLAs to adopt firm resolution to collectively mount pressure on the Centre instead of pursuing the matter in groups.
Moreover, time has come for the government of Ma nipur to be aware about the indifferent attitude of the Centre towards the state and take firm and independent decisions for safeguarding the people.
Protection of the state's territory, integrity and identity lies in the hands of the MLAs and ministers of Manipur and not the Centre, Manihar expressed.
As unwanted incidents happen whenever leaders of national or regional political parties visit the state, FOCS will boycott any party, which tries to take political mileage out of the situation, he declared and commended the Meitei Pangal community for supporting FOCS.
FOCS vice-president BM Yaima Shah, secretary general Angom Punil, MGHAU president Md Najimuddin, UCADAASIM president Md Fakarudding, UCADAASIM & MGHAU advisor Md Abdul Malik, Md Badal Khan, Abdul Hussain, retired joint director (H&SC) Abdul Noor and Alhaj Siyash also attended the joint meet.
