Imphal, July 04 2023:
As New Delhi undermined the state government and its people and made fool of the elected people s rep -resentatives of Manipur, the Forum for Restoration of Peace, Manipur will demonstrate a massive people's movement in the state as 1 well as in the national capital to show before the world that the union government is not interested to resolve the ethnic violence in the state.
In a release, Forum convenor Ashang Kasar recalled the Assurance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah that he would come back to Manipur within 15 days and apprised the people to remain calm during those days.
But he failed to keep his promise and there is no respite from the violence.
, His mantra of looking after the situation of the hill areas and giving charge of the situation in the valley areas to the Chief Minister is controversial and a total failure.
Despatching thousands of military personnel in the state will not bring peace and normalcy.
Rather, it has created suspicion and mistrust among the people.
It is a wonder struck that, in this modern era of diplomacy the union government is not able to tackle the situation and is dependent on tear gas and rubber bullets instead of initiating a dialogue between the conflicting parties, he opined.
Observing that the union government thinks it could restore peace and normalcy by way of military exercise in Manipur as in other parts of India, Ashang Kasar said that New Delhi should know the issue here in Manipur is not like that one dealing with the naxalites in Bihar and Chhattisgarh The conflict now is being magnified and polarised as identity crisis which is very dangerous and in such conflict, a process to bring solution involves a dialogue, diplomacy and soft power mechanism which the union government has never initiated since the start of the conflict.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister should have invited both the parties on his small table to resolve the issue amicably.
The indifferent attitude of the PM showed the way that might is right and is not expected in a democratic country like India.
The forum appealed to all peace loving citizens of Manipur to join the movement of the forum for restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
