Keithel women, BRTF commander meet Governor

Imphal, July 04 2023:
Representatives of Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday and apprised the later about the prevailing situation in the aftermath of the ethnic clash between two communities that broke out on May 3 .
During the meeting, the Keithel representatives requested the Governor to restore peace and tranquillity in the state and to make arrangements for return of the displaced people taking shelter in different relief camps of both valley and hills districts to their respective homes.
The Governor also advised the representatives to extend their fullest cooperation to the security forces who are discharging their responsibilities to contain the situation and restore normalcy in the state.
The Governor reiterated that the state has been experiencing untold miseries for the last two months affecting all sections of the society.
She also informed tha| the Prime Minister has been intimated about the fateful incident and requested to extend all possible help to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
On the other hand, 25 BRTF commander Colonel Atul Kumar met the Governor on Tuesday to update the latter on progress of work of fencing of Indo-Myanmar Border.
The Governor advised the commander to get the work expedited mainly to contain the illegal activities in the border areas as well as prevent sneaking of insurgents and anti social elements into the state from neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile, Governor Anusuiya also discussed the prevailing situation with ex-Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Dr Th Meinya Singh during which the former informed the later the common programme of actions already taken up/propose to be taken up by the central and state governments to bring peace and tranquillity in the state at the earliest.
