Girl skips birthday, donates to relief camp

A young girl studying outside Manipur, who chose to remain anonymity, has decided to drop her 23rd birthday celebration plan on Tuesday and instead donate expenditure of the celebration to a relief camp in Kangpokpi district.
The young girl is daughter of one of the state's bureaucrats from among the Kuki-Zo community who always celebrated her birthdays in the grandest way possible.
She turned 23 Tuesday but rather decided to give up her birthday and donated amount of the celebration to a relief camp to help the internally displaced persons.
She then entrusted one of her uncles at Keithelmanbi Military Colony, who went to a relief and handed over the amount so that it will help them avail at least some basic requirements.
Conveying her intention to drop birthday celebration and rather help the internally displaced persons, the young said she decided not to celebrate when thousands of people are suffering in pain and agony due to the prevailing situation in Manipur.
There is no better at this juncture to celebrate than by contributing and sharing with suffering brothers and sisters taking shelter in relief camps who need support, the birthday girl said.
She then conveyed her message to the people to shun violence and killing.
