The Chief Minister laid foundation stones for construction of Type-III and Type-II Quarters at Chandel police station, Chakpikarong police station and Khengjoy police station, construction of a football ground with natural grass at Chakpikarong, Government Children Homes at Chandel, construction of a bailey bridge over Maha River at Khuringmul, construction of a bailey bridge at Lamphou Pasna over Chakpi River, construction of PHSC Yangoullen, construction of 2 Barrack Type Quarters at PHC Sajik Tampak, construction of a 10 Bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital, Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and setting up of a Memorial Park as a tribute to (L) HT Thungam, ex-Minister (First State Cabinet Minister from Chandel district) .

Addressing a formal function at the Model Residential School, Mantri Pantha, Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Chandel district for the warm welcome accorded to him and his Cabinet Ministers.

He continued that cordial relations amongst people come when one respects the other with a feeling of oneness and when there is inclusive development across the State.

He maintained that his Government has always given priority to bringing equal development.

N Biren said he had highlighted the necessity of a topographical need-based budget to the Central leaders as hill areas require more funds for development activities due to its topography though sparsely populated.

The Go to Hills Mission was introduced soon after he became Chief Minister in 2017 to know the ground reality of hill areas, he said.

The Chief Minister further informed that welfare schemes like Go to Village, School Fagathansi Mission, Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) and others were taken up after assessing the ground reality and understanding the needs of the people.

Welfare schemes introduced by the Central Government have been successfully implemented and lakhs of families have been benefited as the Government officials are sincerely rendering their services, he said.

Stressing that the Model Residential School complex was constructed under MOBC at a cost of around Rs 25 crore, the Chief Minister said similar schools are being constructed at other 13 locations including in valley areas.

His Government is committed to bringing development and changing the landscape of the districts in the hills, said N Biren.

The Pallel to Chandel Road was developed under an amount of Rs 30 crore, and as such the connectivity in the region has improved a lot, he said.

The Chief Minister informed that the United College, Chandel will be covered under the newly launched College Fagathansi Mission and eight new classrooms will be constructed with a funding of Rs 2.5 crore.

He said after the successful implementation of the School Fagathansi Mission, the rate of admission in Government schools has gone up.

The rate of pass percentage for Government school students has also considerably improved, he added.

He expressed his desire to make Chandel district a tourist spot and encouraged locals to build homestays.

Tourists from outside want to explore the beauty of Manipur.

Tourism will help generate income for people.

The State has earlier hosted many National and international events like the G-20 Business (G-20 summit), Femina Miss India Grand Finale, Tri-Nation football tournament, etc.

The Government has no lack of funds for development works, he said, seeking people's cooperation in all development works.

Stating that his Government believes in being people friendly, the Chief Minister said that the Go To Village Mission will be taken up again soon.

Talking about various development projects, N Biren informed that a Fire Service Sub-station has been approved for Chakpikarong.

Deputy Commissioner of Chandel Mayanglambam Rajkumar presented powerpoint slides reviewing developmental works in the district.

Distribution of benefits of schemes, traditional dances and songs marked the formal function.
