State to take over old airfield at Koirengei

Amid the current tension between communities, a Cabinet meeting was held at Chandel district headquarters today wherein a number of significant decisions were taken.
The Cabinet meeting held at DC's office, sans participation of Ministers from Kuki community, approved various schemes and projects including transfer of Defence land at Koirengei Old Airfield to the State Government.
The Cabinet agreed to transfer 130 acres of land contiguous to Leimakhong Military Station to the Army in exchange for 74.24 acres of land at Koirengei Old Airfield.
Besides taking decisions to hold recruitment for thousands of vacant posts in various Departments, the Cabinet approved ex-gratia for persons killed and injured in the ongoing violence.

The recruitment in case of the Tourism Department and Home Department will be done to fill 100 percent vacant posts and for other Departments, the recruitment will be held to fill 50 percent of the vacant posts.
While the Cabinet had already agreed to fill 840 vacant posts in the Home Department, the Cabinet meeting today further agreed to fill another 1,338 vacant posts.
The total number of vacant posts the Cabinet has agreed to fill in the Home Department stands at 2178 plus 103 posts of Home Guard.
Today, the Cabinet approved the following schemes and projects: 1) Ex-gratia and compensation to next of kin of five persons killed in Lilong Chingjao firing incident of January 1.
Three persons grievously injured in the incident will be given Rs 2 lakh each while 11 others will be given Rs 1 lakh each as compensation
2) Next of kin of Chingkham Lamyanba Meitei killed on December 31 will be given Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia and a job
3) Appointment of new staff of Rajya Sainik Board Manipur (Home)
4) Direct Recruitment in Home Department
5) Chief Minister's Farmers Livelihood Support Scheme
6) The Cabinet agreed to a proposal for filling up six posts of Agricultural Officers and 48 posts of Assistant Agriculture Officer on contractual basis against vacancies under direct recruitment quota in the Department of Agriculture through Selection Committee.
7) Approval for memorandum of agreement to be signed with the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer's Welfare, Government of India and the Agriculture Department, Government of Manipur for implementation of AGRISTACK.
8) Chief Minister's Sportspersons Livelihood Guarantee Scheme
9) Chief Minister's Khungang Ama Sanabung Ama
10) Chief Minister's Ima Nongthangleima Yaipha Tengbang Scheme
11) Proposal to exempt recruitment and declaration of results for Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers and Mini-Anganwadi Workers under Anganwadi Services in the Department of Social Welfare from the present ban on recruitment.
12) Direct recruitment in Art & Culture Department
13) Direct recruitment for filling 50 percent of existing vacancies of various posts under State Academy of Training, Manipur in relaxation of ban on direct recruitment.
14) Direct recruitment of 13 posts in respect of Manipur Information Commission in relaxation of the ban on direct recruitment.
15) Direct recruitment in Election Department
16) Direct recruitment in Minor Irrigation Department
17) Direct Recruitment in MoBEDS
18) Filling up of vacant posts in Planning Department
