Mongshangei, Bishnupur colleges conduct FDP

A week-long comprehensive Faculty Development Programme on 'Indian Knowledge System and Modem Disciplines' organised by Department of Political Science of TS Paul Manipur Women's College, Mongshangei under the auspices of the Directorate of University and Higher Education, commenced from Monday at the conference hall of the college.
Addressing the inaugural function, College Governing Body chairman Elangbam Dolendra highlighted the knowledge embedded in ancient Indian systems, including the depth of understanding in mathematics, science, and philosophy found in early Vedic scriptures.
He also praised the incorporation of moral science in the education system to make the knowledge system robust and flawless.
Governing body secretary Oinam Priyokumar underscored India s significant contributions to science and knowledge throughout history and expressed optimism that such a pro gramme would enhance the faculties of various educational institutes.
College principal Thiyam Nandita emphasised the cultural traditions elucidated in Vedic and early texts, covering various aspects of knowledge and science, including Arthasastra, Yoga, and Ayurveda as programme coordinator Dr Ningthoukhongjam Urmila remarked that the programme is a crucial component of implementing the National Education Policy 2020.Stressing the importance of incorporating Indian knowledge systems into education, Dr Urmila noted that such programmes cover diverse topics, ranging from mushroom cultivation to non-violence, contributing to skill enhancement and value-added courses.
The programme will feature lectures by experts in various areas, and discussions and interactions among the participants.
Many experts including professor W Nabakumar, professor L Bishwanath, Dr P Milan, Dr Sarat, professor N Joykumar, Dr Ningthoujam Paona, Dr Asem Babina, professor S Mangi, Kakchingtabam Braja-mani, professor S Dorendra, professor M Ranjit, Dr Rajkumar Suresh, BB Sharma and Dr Thokchom Shantilata would also engage with the participants.
The programme aims to bridge the gap between traditional Indian knowledge systems and modem disciplines, fostering a more holistic approach to education.
Meanwhile, the week-long faculty development programme, which was organised jointly by CI College, Bishnupur; Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong; and Kumbi College under the aegis of Directorate of University and Higher Education at CI College on the theme 'Soft skills for Teachers in Higher Education' concluded on Sunday.
The valedictory programme was attended by Assam University, Silchar Department of Business Administration Jawaharlal Nehru School of Management Studies dean Prof H Ramananda Singh, CI College principal Dr M Mangi Singh and Physics HoD Dr Th Nando Singh as presidium members.
