Bishnupur, January 15 2024:
Former Zila Parishad Member of Nachou, Th Bira Singh has appealed to the Government to take up immediate measures to let the former elected members of Panchayati Raj Institutions to assume responsibilities to implement the development activities effectively in rural areas.
He made the above appeal while speaking to media persons during a press meet held today at Toubul in Bishnupur district.
While lauding the Government for taking up various developmental activities despite the challenges due to the communal conflict which erupted in May last year, he maintained that the activities of Panchayati Raj Institutions and local bodies have come to a standstill which is really unfortunate.
Highlighting that the development of rural areas is key for the overall development of a State, he appealed to the Government to address the difficulties faced by the rural people.
In the context of the ongoing communal conflict in the State, he went on to state that the rural areas and people living in the periphery have been the worst hit owing to the continued attack by the narco terrorists.
In view of the immense difficulties faced by the rural people, he stressed on the need for efficient functioning of the local bodies to ensure that the grants and benefits reached the eligible beneficiaries.
It is only possible when the elected local bodies members are allowed to assume their responsibilities and function properly, he added.
