Zeliangrong Union celebrates foundation day

Imphal, January 15 2024:
Zeliangrong Union (AMN) celebrated its 99th Foundation Day at its Paona Bazar office, here, on Monday.
Chief justice of Union Pei (Apex Customary Court) Adi Riamei and ZU president Azang Rongmei attended the celebration as chief guest and president respectively.
ZU vice-presidents Asing Kamei & Athai Kamei, Chaguat Phuam convenor Sanachao Kamei, ZU Imphal Zone chairman Achung Phaomei, and Kabui Mother Association Manipur president Atongpi Kamei were also present on the occasion as presidium members.
ZU president Azang Rongmei, in his presidential speech, recalled the establishment of Agaangmei on January 15, 1925, near MG Avenue in Hao Keithel.
The visionary forefathers founded Agaangmei with the primary objective of fostering unity and economic development among the cognate tribes of Zeliangrong, namely Zeme, Liangmai, Rongme (Kabui), and Inpui, he said.
He also highlighted preparation for the centenary celebration of the Zeliangrong Union on January 15 next year and called for cooperation and participation of all CSOs representing Zeliangrong cognate tribes in making the centenary celebration a memorable event.
