In N Babysana's death case, Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has directed the Director of Directorate of Forensic Science Pangei to appear before the Court on February 13 .
The Court directed the Director of Forensic Science to appear before it to provide scientific documents or reports to support a claim it made in a letter that the blood group of N Babysana could be O or B, or AB in rare cases.
The direction was given in connection with a case Ningthoujam Tomcha, father of N Babysana, filed in response to a final report the CBI submitted in connection with the controversial case.
N Babysana was found dead on July 18, 2019 inside a room in the hostel of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur.
On December 7, 2023 the same Court had issued a notice to Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Kamrup to send one representative before it.
As directed, Surjit Kumar Mallick, representing the CFSL Kamrup, appeared in the Court in person today and his statement was examined.
Today, the Court observed that there is a need for some clarification regarding the letter of the Directorate of Forensic Science dated October 28, 2022 regarding the blood group of the deceased.
It then directed Dr S Joychandra, Director of Directorate of Forensic Science to appear before the Court on the next date of hearing and provide any scientific document or report to support the claim which it made in its letter that the possible blood group could be O or B, or AB in rare cases.
The Court fixed February 13 for further hearing.
N Babysana was 13-year-old when she was found hanging on July 18, 2019 inside a room in the hostel of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur.
Five individuals including the warden of the hostel and Principal of the school were arrested and later released on bail.
The CBI's final report mentioned that "charge sheet could not be submitted against the accused persons as no evidence emerged during investigation that the accused persons were part of a common intention to murder, or abetment of suicide of Babysana Chanu or were cruel to the child (Babysana) or had cheated any person" .
