Imphal, March 09 2024: Security forces conducted search operations and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, resulting in significant seizure of arms and ammunition on Saturday.

According to a press statement issued by Manipur Police common control room, one 5.56mm US made M-16 Assault Rifle, one 5.56mm M-16 Assault Rifle Magazine, one 12-inch Single Bore Barrel Gun, one No 36 HE Hand Grenade without detonator, 33 Single Bore live cartridges, five fired Single Bore cartridge cases, six 5.56mm live rounds, one combat pouch, one sling bag, and one ammunition waist belt were recovered from Kangpokpi district.

Similarly, from Churachandpur district, security forces seized 11 SBBL Guns, one 9mm Pistol with magazine, three Improvised Heavy Mortar (Pumpi) guns, four Improvised Heavy Mortar (Pumpi) bombs, and 17 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition (sniper) .

On Saturday, the DGP Manipur along with senior police officers, felicitated the medal winners of the 72nd All India Police Volleyball Cluster event held in Nagpur, the press statement also informed.
