Indian Army felicitates Mirabai Chanu on IWD

Indian Army felicitated the family of star weightlifter and Olympic medallist Saikom Mirabai Chanu at their residence in Nongpok Kakching, Manipur on the occasion of International Women's Day on Friday.
In recognition of Mirabai Chanu's outstanding achievements in sport, Brigade Commander, 44 Mountain Brigade, visited her family and presented them with a token of appreciation in her absence.
Mirabai, who is currently participating in a training camp for Paris Olympics 2024 at Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports, Patiala, Punjab, expressed her gratitude over video call.
The Brigade Commander also presented the residents of Nongpok Kakching a set of solar lights for the football field to provide a source of clean and sustainable light for the ever enthusiastic football community of the locality and while also symbolising the Army's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and community development.
The visiting delegates commended Mirabai's dedication and perseverance, which has not only brought laurels to the nation but also inspired countless young women to pursue their dreams.
They highlighted her role as a role model for aspiring athletes, especially young girls, and emphasised the importance of women's empowerment in all spheres of life.
