CRAU, REYS notch up victories in 8th MNCA Elite Tournament

Imphal, March 09 2024:
CRAU (Khamnam Bazar) and REYS (Khwai Nagamapal) both carried the day in Saturday's action of the 8th MNCA W Prahlada & W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2023-24.CRAU outdid Al-Ameen (Lilong) by two wickets in their campaign opener at Lairenjam Public Ground, Imphal.
Opting to field, CRAU bowled out Al-Ameen for a paltry 76 in 33.3 overs.
Heishnam Joyhenba Meitei dished out a sizzling display with the ball, claiming a four-wicket haul.
Senate Singh Mayengbam, on the other hand, impressed with three scalps as Lamabam Ajay Singh picked up two wickets and Bm Sabakhan got one.
Only Md SharozKhane (33), Khulakpam Shahadat Ali (21) and Nawaz (15) managed to reach double figures in Al-Ameen's innings.
CRAU completed the run chase in 19.4 overs, but at the cost of eight wickets.
Lamabam Jotin Singh (18), Khangenbam Bimol Singh (15) and Takhellambam Kala Singh (10), Bm Sabakhan (5 not out) and Heishnam Joyhenba Meitei (3 not out) were key contributors in the Khamnam Bazar squad's chase.
Mohammed Shamir Khan, Najarul Islam and Habibul-lah Ahammed each took two wickets in Al-Ameen's defeat.
REYS beat PTRC (Patsoi Part IV) by 21 runs in the day's other match played at Public Ground, Khangabok Part-III Cherapur, Thoubal.
A collective batting effort courtesy of Mustaque Mohammed (64 not out), Md Basir Rahman (63), Sougrakpam Shangkar Singh (38), Jaali Ahmed Chisti (38) and Naoshekpam Manglemba Meetei (21) helped REYS set up a competitive 245/9.In reply, PTRC fell short of 21 runs after being stopped at 245/9 as fighting knocks by Khangembam Santosh Singh (46), Ngariyanbam Jameson Singh (33), Jotin Singh Pheiroijam (31), Rohit Sharma Aribam (23), Tamarland Pheiroijam (23) and Khaidem Joyraj Meitei (21 not out) went in vain.
Pinkey Singh Sanasam did the major damage for REYS with three scalps as Kiran Laishram grabbed two wickets, and Md Basir Rahman and Sapam Bikash Singh bagged one each in their team's victory.
