MPCC VC lambasts Modi's indifference

Former MLA of Ukhrul Constituency cum vice president of Mani-pur Pradesh Congress Com- mittee (MPCC) Alfred K Arthur has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of turning a blind eye to the crisis in Manipur which now has entered the 11th month.
Addressing a press briefing at Congress Bhavan at BT Road today, Alfred said that the Prime Minister not putting any sincere effort to work out a solution to the violence in Manipur is akin to not taking the State as a part of India.
Apart from not dousing the flame of violence, the Prime Minister hasn't said a word about the violence besieging Manipur since the past over 10 months, he added.
Saying that the attitude being shown by the Prime Minister to the people of Manipur is unbecoming of the position he holds and unacceptable, Alfred sought support of the people in defeating the Narendra Modi led BJP Government.
People in Manipur are suffering because of the failure of the BJP-led Govern- ments at the Centre and the State to restore normalcy in Manipur, the Congress leader maintained.
Accusing the Prime Minister and Chief Minister N Biren Singh of suppressing the voice of the youth, Alfred said that the Congress party will empower youth if it comes to power.
The ex-MLA went on to accuse the BJP led Governments at the Centre and the State of withholding the funds meant for public welfare and attacking MGNREGS.
Where have all the jobs which the BJP assured to give to youth gone, he asked while seeking the support of the youth in defeating BJP and to take the State and the country at large to greater heights.
Hareshwar Goswami, also MPCC vice president, said that the press conference was called to thank party leader Rahul Gandhi who recently assured Yuva Nyay in the form of employment and other initia- tives if Congress is voted to power Notably, Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday, promised right to employment as well as apprenticeships for youths in a series of assurances during a rally in Rajasthan's Bans-wara.
Hareshwar said the figure of unemployment has increased manifold under the BJP regime.
