SFs recover weapons, destroy bunkers

Imphal/Thoubal, October 30 2023: Combined teams of state police and central forces conducted search operations on Monday and recovered huge cache of weapons, in addition to dismantling several bunkers.

According to a police report, a combined team of Imphal East district police, commando, reserved line and Lamlai Police; Khabeisoi Special Commando, 8 IRB, 7 MR, E/86 CRPF, 1/3 GR and 4 AR carried out a search operation at Sanjenbam Khullen, Gouranagar and Terakhong villages under Lamlai PS from 3am till 6am on Monday.

During the operation, the team recovered one .303 Rifle with magazine, one SMG Carbine with magazine, one AK-MA-3 MK-H with magazine, one 9mm Pistol with magazine, twenty 36-HE grenades without detonators, one AK-47 magazine, two INSAS magazines, two INSAS LMG magazines and one M-16 magazine.

The recovered items have been handed over to Lamlai PS for further legal formalities.

Meanwhile, a joint team of Imphal East district police and commando, SDPO Lamlai, DSP commando, Sagolmang PS, 18 AR, 16 AR, 22 AR, 6 IRB and 4 Battalion G Coy CRPF conducted a search operation in Sanjenlok, Yangdoupokpi, Sanjenlok Ching Maton (Mark), Eshingthembi Ching Maton and surrounding areas under Sagolmang PS from 7 am till 3 pm on Monday.

During the operation, the team dismantled four bunkers which were found set up at Sanjenlok Ching Maton (Mark) and two bunkers atop Eshingthembi Ching.

The team also recovered one .22 Rifle with magazine, two 9mm pistols with two magazines, one pistol with magazine, one SMG carbine with magazine, two INSAS magazines, one SLR magazine, one rifle, 34 empty cases of AK-47, six GREN 80WP MK-1 with six detonators, one destroyed butt of DBBL, 14 36-HE grenades, 15 tube launchers, ten rings, six HD cartridges and one mortar shell.

The recovered weapons have been handed over to Sagolmang PS for initiating legal action.

On the other hand, regarding the attack at the residence of Andro PS OC Riyajuddin in Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai on Saturday, the report said it is believed to have been carried out by miscreants in connection with the arrest of five KCP cadres, in which the OC had a role.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered two 7.62 mm rounds of ammunition, one Country - made improvised long range heavy Mortar (6 ft), two empty shells of country-made improvised heavy Mortar, one tear smoke shells soft nose (SR)(HDPE 38mm), one cartridge of 38mm anti-riot with rub ber bullet ammunition AFK Pune, one combat dress, one pouch, one shoe pair, one backpack and fake currency noted amounting to Rs 1,600 (in eight Rs 200 denominations) from D Moljang village under Churachandpur PS during a search operation carried out on Monday.
