KLO/KLA denounces 'narrative warfare', warns against divisive propaganda

Kangpokpi, June 07 2026: The Kuki Liberation Organisation/Kuki Liberation Army (KLO/ KLA), a signatory to the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, has strongly rejected allegations linking the organisation to the recent attacks on Kuki-Zo villages in the Kangchup and New Keithelmanbi regions, describing the claims as a "malicious propaganda campaign" aimed at misleading the public and sowing discord among the Kuki-Zo people.

Taking exception to reports alleging that the deadly attack on Loibol Kholen - which left three villagers dead and several houses reduced to ashes - was the result of a gunfight between the KLA and KNF(P), the organisation categorically denied any involvement and termed such claims "entirely false, misleading, and devoid of factual basis" .

The KLO/KLA asserted that neither Kangchup nor New Keithelmanbi falls within its operational jurisdiction and maintained that the organisation neither maintains a presence nor conducts any activities in the region.

"The operational jurisdiction of the KLO/KLA is confined to the Saikul region.

Any attempt to associate the organisation with incidents occurring in Kharam Vaiphei and Loibol Kholen is a deliberate effort to distort facts and mislead the public," the statement said.

The organisation further dismissed the narrative of an alleged clash between the KLA and KNF(P) as a "manufactured fiction" designed by vested interests seeking to exploit the prevailing unrest.

According to the KLO/KLA, such allegations appear intended to create divisions within the Kuki-Zo community, generate mistrust among communities, and further inflame an already volatile security situation in the hill districts of Manipur.

The KLO/KLA maintained that the continued circulation of such allegations was a calculated attempt to tarnish its image, undermine existing peace mechanisms, and divert attention from those actually responsible for the attacks.
