Imphal, October 30 2023:
Congress Legislative Party (CLP) deputy leader MLA K Ranjit contended that chief minister N Biren is no longer the person who loves his motherland as he has now become a politician doing everything to save his post of chief ministership.
Addressing media persons in connection with the inability of the state government to resolve the nearly 6-month long crisis in the state which have left thousands of people homeless, MLA K Ranjit said that during the Congress rule, N Biren was also a cabinet minister and had immense love for his motherland.
However, now all the love he had for his motherland has disappeared and has become a person who does not keep his words.
K Ranjit further stated that many houses of the Meiteis have been burnt down during the crisis which erupted on May 3 last.
Thousands of people have been rendered homeless and forced to take shelter in different relief camps opened in different parts of the state.
Moreover, many lost their lives, students remain traceless and women raped and tortured.
Considering all these, chief minister N Biren Singh cannot be considered a person who loves his motherland.
There is not a single sign where we can consider him as a person who loves and cares for his motherland, he charged.
He also stated that the state government could have controlled the situation the very next day of outbreak of the conflict by deploying all the state forces even if it was caught unprepared.
Many young people, who loved their motherland dearly, have come out to save Manipur from the hands of the armed Kuki militants by snatching arms from the state forces.
Under such condition, the future of Manipur is bleak.
Chief minister N Biren Singh should be held responsible for all these unwanted incidents, the Congress legislator maintained.
MLA Ranjit also expressed disappointment over the inability and reluctance of the CM Biren to meet the Prime Minister and urge him to bring an amicable solution to the prevailing crisis in the state.
CM Biren has become a leader who dances to the tune of the central government, he lamented.
