Remand for five

Special Court POCSO Imphal West has remanded 5 individuals to 7 days police custody till November 6 for sexually assaulting a minor girl inside a moving vehicle during Yaoshang in March this year.
The minor girl was allegedly given a drink laced with intoxicants and when she fell unconscious, the five persons sexually assaulted her and recorded a video of the incident.
The five accused persons, who have been arrested and remanded to police custody are identified as Boris Maibam (20) son of Gandhi of Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai, John Maibam alias Pari (20) son of Dayamo of Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai, Melgipson Naorem (20) son of Bode of Kakwa Naorem Leikai, Purna Okram (20) son of Badal of Chajing Mairenkhong and Kshetrimayum Manson (20) son of Manglemtomba of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai.
They were arrested last night in connection with the case.
Investigating Officer of the case, Rattana Ngasepam, Additional SP Investigative Unit Crime Against Women Imphal West produced the accused persons before the Court today along with a prayer for remanding them to seven days police custody for proper investigation of the case.
In the Court, the prosecutor submitted that the Cyber Crime Police filed a written report with the Imphal police station that a video was received yesterday from reliable source wherein one unknown girl is seen sexually assaulted by a group of persons.
The minor victim girl was suspected to be induced with alcohol or any other intoxicants which made her fall unconscious.
Taking advantage of the minor's condition, the group of persons sexually assaulted the victim inside a car and one of them recorded a video of the incident.
Investigation led to the identification and detention of Boris Maibam.
During preliminary investigation, he revealed the names of four other accused persons, John Maibam, Melgipson Naorem, Purna Okram and Ksh Manson.
The prosecutor told the Court that accused Boris revealed that the incident occurred during the Holi Festival on March 11 at around 2 pm.
They picked up the victim girl from an area of Imphal West.
Police later identified the victim and she turned out to be a minor.
On examination, she disclosed that the accused persons allegedly sexually assaulted her inside a car after giving her a drink laced with intoxicants.
The prosecutor submitted to the Court that evidence suggests that the accused persons abducted the minor girl, sexually assaulted her after intoxicating her and later transmitted recorded obscene material in electronic form.
The crime committed by the accused persons is heinous where a helpless and unconscious minor girl was sexually abused by a group of 5 men after administering intoxicants.
Custodial interrogation of the accused persons is highly required to ascertain the modus operandi of the crime and also to collect evidence to prosecute them, said the prosecutor.
The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission, remanded the five accused persons to 7 days police custody till November 6 .
