The Government is providing basic requirements to the IDPs, however, providing livelihood is also very important, he said.
In view of the above, the DC said that he took the opportunity to start a buy back policy training programme as soon as it was proposed since it ensures the trainees get a marketing platform for their products.
He continued that other skill development training are also being organised at the relief camps.
He continued that when the 3-member committee set up by the Supreme Court visited the relief camps in the district, one of their major concerns was regarding women and children staying in the relief camps.
The members had advised to prioritise pregnant women, lactating mothers and the diet of the children, he said.
Stating that yarn and knitting needles are being provided to inmates acting on the advice of the committee, the DC added that such productive engagements will help the inmates lessen their stress to some extent.
The inaugural function was also attended by Oinam Indira Devi, Founder Secretary, WIGC; officials of the District Administration, and trainees among others.
It is worth noting that the Government has been taking up a number of welfare initiatives for the displaced people who have been compelled to take refuge in various relief camps across the State ever since the outbreak of the unfortunate ethnic clash to help them sustain themselves.
