Samiti celebrates foundation day, distributes awards

Kakching, January 15 2024: Sahiyta Seva Samiti, Kakching celebrated its 57th foundation day at the auditorium of Library & Information Centre, Kakching Phoushupat Leikai and distributed literary awards on Monday.

The celebration was attended by Kakching C MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, Dhanamanjuri University vice chancellor Professor Nongmaithem Rajmuhon, Kha Manipur College, Kakching principal Professor Yumnam Sunitibala and Samiti president Kshetri Bira as presidium members.

During the celebration, literary awards presented annually by the Samiti were also distributed.

Yambem Mani Sahitya Mana 2023 was conferred to Jawaharlal Ningombam for his essay book 'Eikhoigi Toudri' (Bangshi); Yendrembam Surlata Puraskar 2023 to Kshetrimayum Subadani of Imphal for her short story book 'Ashengba Iral'; Chingkhu Moirangleima Kabirdas Mana 2023 to Rajeshwari Yengkhom of Kakching for her poetry book Ningtambagi Machu'; Kshetrimayum Chaoba Translation Award 2023 to Nabakumar Nongmeikapam of Mayang Imphal for the transliterated 'Amamba Khamnung Lambi'; Kshetri Nalini Devi Ningshing Mana 2023 to Naorem Amuyaima of Ganeshguri, Guwahati for his essay book Wakhalgi Machu; and Yendrembam Godadhar Ningshing Mana 2023 to KK Wahengbam of Imphal for his auto biography 'Ei Amadi Cancer'.

The awards included Rs 10,000 cash, citation and shawl each.

Samiti's annual journal 'Chumthang' was also released during the programme, which witnessed offering of floral tributes to the departed members and those who laid down their lives for the sake of Manipur along with observing a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
