Khaba JAC petitions CM, to claim body today

Imphal, January 31 2024:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the killing of Meisnam Khaba (Ibomcha) convened a public meeting on Wednesday at Sagoltongba and later submitted a memorandum to the chief minister containing resolutions adopted during the meeting.
Khaba from Sagoltongba was one of the two village volunteers killed by Kuki militants in the coordinated attacks launched in Kadangband and Koutruk areas of Imphal West district on Tuesday.
After the public meeting, representatives of the JAC met chief minister N Biren and Submitted a memorandum.
After the chief minister gave positive response to the demands raised, the JAC decided to claim Khaba's body on Thursday.
Among the demands raised by JAC to the CM include immediate abrogation of SoO agreement signed with Kuki militants, adequate deployment of state forces in peripheral valley areas, immediate implementation of NRC in Manipur, ex-gratia and government job to Khaba's family, immediate removal of 22 AR and arrest of culprits involved in the killing of Khaba within 48 hours.
A memorandum containing all these points was submitted to the chief minister which the latter promised to translate the demands into action.
After getting positive response from the chief minister, the JAC said that post mortem of Khaba's body will be conducted at RIMS mortuary on Thursday and perform his last rites later.
