Imphal, January 31 2024:
The State Government must convince the Prime Minister to visit Manipur by February 15, said Lamyanba Irawat Memorial Integrated Trust (LIMIT) today.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, LIMIT president Malem Thongam said the present crisis in Manipur needs the attention of the Prime Minister and proactive actions of the Central and State Governments to bring peace.
Accusing the Prime Minister and the Central Government of ignoring the nearly 9-month-old conflict, Malem said the BJP leaderships in the Centre and the State should walk the talk and deliver their promises to the people.
The people of the State and Lamyanba Irawat Memorial Integrated Trust (LIMIT) strongly condemn the Government for its failures in curbing violence, he said.
The BJP had promised to do, in 15 months, what the previous Government couldn't do in 15 years.
What the BJP promised turns out to be "annihilation of the Meiteis," he said.
Many innocent citizens and brave sons of the soil have been killed and thousands have been displaced by the conflict that started on May 3, 2023.The State Government must convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur by February 15, else LIMIT will take the protest to Delhi, Malem said.
In case the State Government is unable to convince the Prime Minister to visit Manipur, LIMIT will hold protests in Delhi, he said, asking people in Delhi for their support.
