Alumni group facilitates eye operation for vision impaired conflict survivors

In another testament to human kindness in the midst of the present crisis, Alumni DM College of Science (XII 1996-TDC 1999 Batch) has successfully facilitated the ophthalmic (eye) operation of two conflict survivors suffering from vision impairment.
The eye operations were performed at Yaima Eye Hospital, Khagempalli after the two conflict survivors with vision issues were discovered by the alumni group during free health camps & eye check ups organised at Kumbi Terakha and Ithai Khunou relief camps.
The two patients are Lukram Malemthoibi Chanu (18) of Phougakchao Ikhai currently staying at Kumbi Terakha Relief Camp and Lourembam Bimol Devi (41) from Torbung currently staying at Ithai Khunou Relief Camp.

Lukram Malemthoibi Chanu and Lourembam Bimol Devi were diagnosed with chalazion and Pterygium respectively.
In view of the poor financial condition of the conflict survivors, Yaima Eye Hospital performed the surgeries free of cost.
Speaking to the media, Alumni DM College of Science (XII 1996-TDC 1999 Batch) member Ningthoujam Modhusudon said that the alumni group had also facilitated the eye surgery of two conflict survivors namely Hemam Yaima Singh (75) from Torbung Waikhurok and Nongmaithem Roma Devi (35) from Phoubakchao Ikhai.
He continued the eye surgery was successfully conducted on January 16, 2024 at Yaima Eye Hospital.
He shared that the alumni group has also arranged a surgery at RIMS Imphal on February 20, 2024, for another conflict survivor diagnosed with chronic otitis media.
Modhusudon further announced that the alumni group will continue to organise free medical camps to help the conflict survivors who are taking refuge at relief camps set up in different places.
