Despite need to maintain tidiness in face of Dengue cases
Dust, filth define Imphal now

Imphal, October 22 2023:
In sharp contrast to the advisory given by the State Health Department to keep the surroundings clean in view of the Dengue outbreak, Imphal and Greater Imphal still struggle to handle its waste due to poor garbage collection system and unchanging littering habit of the public.
Heaps of wastes and garbage items have been lying unattended in many areas, including the surrounding areas of the Old Assembly Road, North AOC, Nagamapal, Minuthong and Hatta.
Such unhygienic piling of garbage is also seen on the riverbanks and road sides of Nambul River, Imphal River and Kongba River which pass through many areas of Imphal and Greater Imphal.

Despite repeated appeals from the relevant authorities and local clubs to stop littering on the road sides and riverbanks, various locations along these riverbanks in Imphal have miserably failed to conform to the instruction.
The situation in Imphal City is compounded by the dust particles emitting from the poorly maintained roads.
The condition of roads in many locations in Imphal are so pathetic that some of them are not safe for driving during night time.
It may be mentioned that the State Health Department has been issuing health advisory to prevent Dengue infection.
