Imphal, September 27 2023:
The World Meetei Council (WMC) has claimed that the photos of Phijam Hemanjit and Linthoingambi Hijam might have been uploaded by Kuki terrorists to divert all the attention to the valley districts so that they could harvest poppies from large tract of fields without any disturbances.
In a statement, WMC asked all Meeteis to understand the purpose and timing behind the leakage of the photos to make sure 'we don't fall into the traps of the Kuki terrorists' .
Saying that the time of poppy cultivation is round the corner which according to the Intelligence Bureau could generate over Rs 60,000 crore, the WMC asked 'why would the Kuki militants implicate themselves by exposing the photos"? .
The Council continued that they, however, understand the anger of the people and stand wholly with the aggrieved families.
The Government knew the location of the phones of the deceased students after they were kidnapped while the user of one of the phones with complete detail of SIM card and particulars were identified later, the WMC claimed and asked why the Government didn't trace and arrest the man who possessed the phone.
The Council went on to state that valuable information could have been retrieved from the person who took the phone and rescued the innocent students had the Government acted swiftly and on time and asked if laws are applicable only to Meeteis.
