CCpur, September 27 2023:
The women's wing of Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) took out a protest rally in Churachandpur town against prompt CBI enquiry on the alleged killing of two students.
Nearly 20,000 womenfolk took part in the protest rally which kicked off from Lamka Public ground at about 10.30am on Wednesday.
The rally took to Tipaimukh road and then to IB road and Tiddim road before converging at the Wall of Remembrance site wherein dummy coffins of violence victims are being kept.
A public meeting held at the site was underway till the time of filing this report.
According to ITLF women wing convener Mary Jone, prompt CBI enquiry into the killing of two students shows the partial treatment of the government towards the Kuki Zo people as many Kuki-Zo women were also raped and killed but no CBI enquiry has been initiated.
She questioned as to how could government initiate CBI enquiry in a hasty manner for one particular community while the same could not done for Kuki Zo people.
The convener then appealed to the Central government particularly the Home ministry to initiate urgent CBI enquiry into perpetration of violence against Kuki-Zo tribals including women.
