Imphal, September 27 2023:
The Prime Minister who had vehemently condemned crime against women on a video of two Kuki women being paraded nude has not said a word on the brutal murder of two young students in captivity by armed men, said womenfolk of Khwairamband Keithel.
During a protest demonstration at the Keithel (market), one of the women vendors, Asem Nirmala said even after the photographs of the two students have surfaced and filled Manipur with cries of mothers, the Prime Minister has remained mute and immune.
When a video clip of two Kuki women being paraded nude surfaced recently, Prime Minister Modi had then condemned the heinous crime against women and he had also called for stringent punishment of all involved.
Now, two young innocent students have been abducted and killed, but the PM has not said a single word on this.
Which punishment will be given to the culprits who have committed the double murder ? she asked.
Disappointed with the State BJP leaders, Nirmala said, if BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sarda is truly a mother, then as a mother she should resign from her post.
Denouncing the Government for not acting early, she said inability to trace the whereabouts of the two students even after more than two months is a complete failure of the State Government and its Intelligence Department.
The two students, Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit went missing on July 6.What was the Government and its Intelligence Department doing then ? she asked.
Now the photographs of the two students lying dead have surfaced on social media, and Manipur has been filled with cries of mothers.
The Government must arrest all culprits involved in the heinous crime, she said.
The Government must not spare any effort to trace and recover the bodies of the two missing students, she added.
Meanwhile, the Government has said that the case has been handed over to the CBI for investigation, and people have learned that the CBI Director is visiting Manipur today.
However, the CBI can't be trusted with the investigation, as they have failed in many cases related to the State earlier, she said.
On the other hand, the NIA has charged M Anand, one of the five village volunteers who were arrested earlier of "colluding with Myanmar to destabilise India" .
If the NIA has proof of this charge, then it should be made known to the people.
Otherwise, the NIA shouldn't slap whatever charges it suits them, she said.
Instead of victimizing the volunteers who are defending villages, strong action must be taken against the 10 Kuki MLAs who have openly sought to break Manipur apart and destabilise India, she said.
Nirmala said the 10 MLAs have broken the sacred oath they took in the Assembly to protect Manipur and India.
They have committed the worst of crimes against Manipur and India, she said.
