UDWJA revokes boycott

Ukhrul, September 27 2023:
The Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) resolved to revoke the boycott upon Assam Rifles in connection with the harassment of an Ukhrul based journalist by a personnel of 24 Assam Rifles, Shangshak Battalion at Ramva Check Post.
A press statement by UDWJA informed that after a detailed discussion during a meeting held today at 35 AR Outpost, Tahao,Wino in Ukhrul, it was amicably resolved 'to forgive and forget' the unfortunate incident and to revoke the boycott.
During the meeting, Colonel Deeptodeep Menty, 24 AR Commandant, Shangshak Battalion expressed deep regrets over the unfortunate incident on behalf of his subordinate erring personnel and admitted the misdeeds who were mending the check post that day.
He also assured that no such incidents will recur.
The meeting was attended by Col Manoj Shinde, Commandant of 35 AR, Somsai Battalion; leaders from Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) and the officer in question, Subedar Kamla Pati Joshi.
UDWJA further appreciated the cooperation and support extended by Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU), All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU), Editors Guild Manipur (EGM), Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long.
