Imphal, September 27 2023:
Condemning the excesses of State police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) in controlling the students who protested against the brutal murder of the two Meetei students, the Coordinating Committee of 30 Assembly Constituencies has said that the unfolding situation in the valley districts exhibits the incompetence of the State Government.
In a statement, chairman of the Committee Kh Indrajit said that the State police and RAF have shown their cowardice by using brute force against the students without taking into account the emotion of the people.
The Government can't do anything against the Kuki terrorists who have been attacking Meeteis since May 3 but they are very bold and brave in dealing with the students in the valley who protested against the merciless killing of the two Meetei students who went missing in July, he charged.
Saying that the only way to control the situation in the valley districts is to arrest and penalise the people who killed Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi, Indrajit continued that the Government shouldn't use brute force to suppress the genuine voice of the people.
The Government should resign if they don't know how to look after the affairs of the State instead of venting out their frustration on the civilians, Indrajit maintained.
He went on to claim that the double engine BJP Government is still trying to mislead the people and save their image instead of putting all efforts to douse the flame
in Manipur.
