Imphal, October 22 2023:
The BJP led government in the state must focus on resolving the nearly six month-old unrest rather than continuing to blame Congress party and playing delaying tactics, stated MPCC president K Meghachandra.
K Meghachandra told some media persons at his official residence at Babupara Sunday that chief minister and all cabinet ministers must rushed to New Delhi and forcibly meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the present crisis.
It is well known among public that the violence erupted on May 3 continued till date mainly due to state government's failure to contain it during the initial stage.
However, BJP is continuing to blame Congress party for the violence instead of taking up concrete steps for resolving the crisis.
Almost every day, BJP spokespersons are blaming Congress party for the violence through media.
Meghachandra said and questions logic behind BJP continuously blaming Congress party for the violence.
According to K Meghachandra, convening of state cabinet meet at Ukhrul and inauguration and laying of foundation stones for different projects to be taken up in the district was a good work of the government.
It would not be wrong to cite security as the main reason for two Kuki ministers' inability to attend cabinet meet in lmphal.
However, two Kuki cabinet ministers did not took part the cabinet meet held in Ukhrul and it is questionable as to why the ministers did not took part government's activities, he said and made his strong observation that the two ministers should have took part the cabinet meet in Ukhrul.
It well known among general public that 10 Kuki MLAs including seven of BJP demanded separate administration and a memorandum signed by them have submitted to both Union home minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However, BJP still denied involvement in demanding separate administration and party's claim indeed is very confusing, Meghachandra said and strongly alleged that BJP is lying 100 times to cover up one lie.
Expressing concern over lawlessness and diminishing democratic values in the state, the MPCC president said state government put students of Manipur University into police lock-up merely for launching democratic agitation but remain silent when a youth of BJP fired and injured innocent civilians.
State force personnel despatched for maintaining law and order in Moreh are yet to reach the border town and government seems to be lacking moral responsibility, Meghachandra alleged and asked state BJP leaders to concentrate on resolving the crisis rather than playing delaying tactics to lengthen the unrest.
While stating that the unrest could resolve within a week if government has firm commitment, the MPCC president suggested that all the 12 cabinet ministers must land at New Delhi forcibly to meet Prime Minister and resolve the crisis within a week.
