Public meeting on Linthoingambi & Hemanjit on Sunday

Imphal, October 27 2023: Informing that a public, meeting will be held on Sunday at Takyel Kolom Leikai community hall to discuss issues regarding the abduction and murder case of Linthoingambi Hijam and Phijam Hemanjit, Linthoingambi's father Hijam Kulajit and Hemanjit's father Ibungochoubi have appealed to the JAC members and leaders of different CSOs, student bodies, Meira Paibi Lups and local clubs to attend the meeting.

Addressing a press meet at the community hall on Friday, Ibungochoubi said that even though the incident occurred amid the crisis, it was a deliberate act and it requires special investigation.

He appealed to the government authorities to recover and hand over the bodies of the two slain students at the earliest so that they could perform their last rites.

He also appealed to the government to transfer the case to a fast track court for swift justice and expressed suspicion that transferring the case to CBI is nothing but a delaying tactic.

Hijam Kulajit said that the two bereaved families have not received any positive response to their demand for recovering the bodies, especially after the key accused in the case had been arrested.

He asked the government to clarify if it would not be able to recover their bodies so that they could get help from other sources to find the bodies.

The distraught father also appealed to the government to fast track the case for swift justice and urged the public to attend the Sunday's public meeting.
