Imphal, October 27 2023:
The state government has started process to take action against a public notice issued and spread by Joint Students' Body (reportedly based in Churachandpur district) through the media, which is not only illegal but also likely to worsen the prevailing situation in the state.
According to a public appeal made by chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi on Friday, the state government learned from reliable sources about the public notice issued by the Joint Students' Body, which has allegedly been spreading the contents of the said notice through different media including social media platforms.
Not only is the content likely to aggravate the law and order problem in the state, a deliberate attempt had been made to rename institutions and places, along with public declaration for adoption of resolution for observing every Friday as a holiday by all government institutions including offices of DCS/SPs/ ZEO/ADCs, government schools and colleges in Churachandpur, which is totally illegal.
As such, the state government has taken up necessary preventive and precautionary measures along with robust response mechanism to avoid any untoward incident.
It continued that any such act of spreading message/circulating materials/press release/public notice, which poses a threat to the communal harmony, peaceful co-existence, internal and national security is viewed seriously by the state government with utmost sensitivity.
The government is taking up all possible steps without leaving any stone unturned to book the culprit(s) involved in such acts, which is against the government orders issued earlier in this regard under relevant provision of law and for the time being in force, in addition to strengthening intelligence inputs.
Thus, the CS appealed to the public not to rely bn such post/material/press release/public notice which had been illegally generated and spread through different media and also not to follow/to resort to any kind of unwanted act/violence.
