National seminar kicks off at WMG College

Manipur University Vice-Chancellor Naorem Lokendra kicked off a two-day national seminar on 'Climate Change Challenges (3C) and Sustainable Development' at Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal today.
The national seminar was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Waikhom Mani Girls' College.
The event was graced by Professor Naorem Lokendra as the chief guest and Professor H Manoranjan Sharma, Principal, Waikhom Mani Girls' College and Professor Pratay Yadava, former Dean School of Social Science, Manipur University as the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor N Lokendra said that there are tell-tale signs of climate change in the State of Manipur.
In comparison with older data, many wetlands have disappeared, there is marked reduction in rainfall, forest cover has undergone severe degradation and most notably, he pointed at the decreasing size of Loktak lake.
In view of all these unfavourable climatic changes, this two-day national seminar will prove to be beneficial to the people, he said.
The MU VC also released a souvenir on the occasion.
It is worth noting that delegates from other states will partake in the seminar which has been divided into morning and afternoon session.
