Barish sent to four-day police remand

Imphal, October 27 2023:
A local court on Friday remanded former BJYM president Manoharmayum Barish Sharma to four days in police custody for further questioning in connection with the shootout incident at Sega Road Khwairakpam Leikai on October 14, which left five people including a woman injured.
According to a police report, in connection with the October 14 incident, Imphal PS had registered an FIR and arrested five accused, namely Vicky, Alex, Nibash, Reben and Tony during the course of investigation.
On the night of October 21, police arrested Barish from his residence and produced him before the court of the duty magistrate on October 22, which remanded him to police custody till October 27 .
On Friday, an Imphal PS team produced him before the court on expiry of the police remand period.
The court then remanded him for four days in police custody for further questioning.
Mention may be made here, that accused Vicky, Alex, Nibash, Reben and Tony were also produced before the court by police on expiry of their remand period op October 25.The court then remanded all five accused in judicial custody for 15 days.
The charges levelled against Barish include violation of curfew, Arms Act, criminal intimidation and attempt to murder under different sections of IPC.
