MOMA conducts pickle-making training prog

A two-day skill development and handholding training programme on making pickles from lemon and gooseberry, which is being organised by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) under the department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, commenced from Friday at Phougakchao Ikhai.
The inaugural function of the training programme conducted specially for displaced people taking shelter in relief camps, was attended by Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation additional director K Debadutta Sharma and department's Bishnupur district officer S Sushila Devi among others as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Debadutta informed that the training is being organised with the primary objective of providing some benefits to the displaced people living in relief camps.
He further said that making fruit pickles by following all food safety measures will help the people in generating commensurate profit.
Moreover, if the fruits are made into pickles, then they could have longer shelve life, the additional director maintained, while assuring that horticulture department will provide all possible help including market linkage for selling the pickles in future too.
The chief minister has also given instructions for rendering all possible help to the displaced people, he added.
