37th National Games : Gymnast P Ariha wins two gold medals, takes tally to 13

Imphal, October 27 2023:
State Gymnasts had a brilliant day out at Peddem Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Mapusa in North Goa and earned three medals including two gold medals for Manipur in the 37th National Games.
Two days after Phandom Ranibala opened Manipur's account with a weightlifting gold medal, aerobic gymnast Ariha Pangambam claimed two gold medals- one apiece in the individual and trio competitions.
Ariha secured the individual gold with 17.60 points finishing ahead of West Bengal's Majida Khatun (17.20 pts) and Sakshi Makarand Dongre of Maharashtra who secured 16.95 points.

Ariha won another gold medal in the trio competition along with Anjori Pangambam and Leishilembi Chabungbam by securing highest 17.22 points.
Maharashtra and Services trio finished second and third in the competition with 17.10 points and 16.75 points respectively.
Sanasam Ruban Meitei in the meantime settled for the silver medal in the floor exercise competition.
Chaobam Umeshwori win weightlifting bronze
S Chaoba Chanu and P Umeshwori also swelled Manipur's medal tally to four in 37th National Games weightlifting winning a bronze medal apiece today at Campal Ground, Panjim in Goa.
In the senior women's 76 kg category competition, S Chaoba Chanu recorded third best 109 kg to win the bronze medal.
She faltered in the first and the third attempt of the snatch competition with 83 kg but managed 109 kg in clean and jerk to amass 192 kg, one kg behind second place Harmanpreet Kaur of Punjab (81 kg in snatch and 112 in clean and jerk) .
The gold medal went to Vandana Gupta of Uttar Pradesh who collected the highest 207 kg (91 kg in snatch and 116 kg in clean and jerk) .
Meanwhile in the women's 71 kg category competition, P Umeshwori lifted 85 kg highest in snatch and 104 kg in clean and jerk to secure another bronze medal to the State's tally.
Harjinder Kaur of Punjab who recorded 88 kg in snatch and 113 kg in clean and jerk claimed the gold medal while Trupti Mane of Maharashtra secured the silver with a 190 kg finish (87 kg in snatch and 103 kg in clean and jerk) .
Phandom Ranibala on October 25 opened Manipur's medal account winning a gold medal in the women's 55 kg category with a 196 kg finish.
S Nirupama in the meantime added a silver medal yesterday finishing second in the women's 64 kg category competition with a 195 kg finish.
Konsam Denny, Nelcyrose bag bronze medals in Fencing
Konsam Denny and Nelcyrose also settled with bronze medals in the fencing competitions held at SPM Stadium, Goa University in Panjim.
Konsam Denny won the bronze medal in the men's individual foil competition while Nelcyrose won the other bronze medal in the women's individual epee event.
Bidyaluxmi, Naorem Boynao win Pencak Silat bronze medals
Bidyaluxmi Shamjetshabam settled for a bronze medal in the women's 45 kg tending event before Naorem Boynao added yet another bronze medal to the State's tally in the men's 55 kg tending event at Campal Sports Village in Panjim.
The Goa games will run till November 9 .
